The work you don’t see: Why life admin support matters more than people realise
Most people underestimate the weight of life admin. But we see it all.
Especially when we’re helping clients through the most difficult times of their lives.
One of the most dramatic anecdotes I share when I’m talking about the stress of life admin is that of a client we supported last year. This particular client was a mum of two young children, going through a difficult separation. She came to us needing help with a whole host of things — arranging trades, managing maintenance on her two properties, preparing for sale, catching up on overdue tax returns, and staying on top of everyday life admin like school uniforms, bills, and appointments.
When you’re trying to hold everything together alone, even the “simple” tasks feel heavy. And there’s no shame in turning to professionals for help. Especially when you need to be present for your children.
But, then, her world turned completely upside down overnight.
Her home flooded. There was significant damage and immediate safety concerns. Her two children just needed routine and stability in the middle of chaos, but now she was dealing with a long, frustrating insurance process on top of everything else.
Of course, the everyday life admin didn’t stop — it never does — but her emotional capacity did.
And that’s where we really came through for her.
We became her support system and her second brain (and extra pairs of hands) throughout the entire ordeal:
We managed trades, scheduled work, provided oversight on jobs, and ensured her property was ready for sale.
We worked with accountants, finding missing documents and clearing years of admin backlog so she could file overdue tax returns.
We paid bills, organised school needs, handled correspondence — all the daily life admin that keep a family functioning.
As for the insurance claim, we handled it from start to finish, lodging the claim, pushing for temporary accommodation, communicating with the insurer, and ensuring her family had somewhere safe to stay.
When the insurer’s “repairs” were well below standard, we escalated the case to AFCA. We advocated on her behalf, documented every failure, and pushed until the insurer was held accountable.
This resulted in AFCA issuing a significant payout directly to our client — acknowledging that the insurer had not provided adequate repairs, trades, or support.
Once compensation was secured, we brought in trusted trades, oversaw the full restoration, and ensured the work was done to a high standard.
By the end of the process, her home was repaired, her properties were sold, her paperwork was under control, and her life admin was finally manageable again.
But the real transformation was the emotional one.
She later told me:
“I could never have done this alone. You held everything together when I couldn’t.”
And that’s exactly why we do what we do.
The emails, the paperwork, the appointments, the bills, the follow-ups, the unexpected problems, the things you meant to get to weeks ago…
None of these tasks are big on their own. But together they quietly stack up until you feel like you’re carrying the weight of an entire household or business on your shoulders. Sometimes both, if you’re a small business owner and a parent.
And life admin doesn’t pause — not for stress, not for illness, not for grief, and definitely not for life’s major upheavals.
This is where Life Balance Essentials steps in. This is what we do every day for our clients: we see the invisible load and take it off your shoulders so you can breathe again.
Real change doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why we work with clients over time — so there’s space to build systems that actually work, reduce overwhelm, and support real life as it unfolds.
Our work is typically structured over twelve months, with an initial three-month commitment to ensure we can create meaningful momentum together. From there, clients choose what ongoing support looks like for them.
