Working with a Personal Concierge and The ‘Trust’ Factor

Jun 23, 2019 0 comments

The job of a personal concierge is to make your life simpler.

We do this by completing those annoying, time-consuming tasks you just can’t seem to find the time for, by ticking items off your to-do-list and essentially doing whatever we can do to de-stress and better organise your life!

In order for your Personal Concierge to do this and for you to get the most value for money out of your services, a certain level of trust is required. Often a Personal Concierge may request your passwords, access to your bank accounts, your emails, personal paperwork, financial information… they may even liaise directly with your accountant! There is almost nothing a Personal Concierge can’t do on your behalf- if you are happy to hand over that level of control.

So how do you hand that control over? How do you trust someone you hardly know with all your personal information?

We asked some of our clients exactly that and here’s what we discovered.

View testimonials

Often, our clients said the trust was built over time. Once a few small tasks were completed without a hitch, they requested more tasks. When those tasks were also completed and the client was happy with the service, they would hand over more control until the trust between client and Personal Concierge was without question.

Some of our clients said they were far too stressed and overwhelmed to even care about the ‘trust’ factor. Others simply saw it as we do – a professional, confidential arrangement (such as one between a financial planner, accountant or even a psychologist), where trust never really comes into question.

In summary, trust is a personal issue that differs from client to client. What we do know for sure is not a single client has ever had their privacy or confidentiality broken and additionally, the clients who handed the most control over to their Personal Concierge, gained the most value from their services.

Why ‘De-stressing’ Should be Top of Your Priority List

Apr 4, 2019 0 comments

Stress is something most people find nearly impossible to avoid in today’s world. With constant pressures to stay on top of a working career, finances, family and a busy home life… sometimes it feels like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done!

But did you know that staying on top of your stress levels is one of the most important things you can do for your physical and mental health?

When our stress levels rise, the brain goes into ‘fight or flight’ mode, releasing chemicals such as cortisol, adrenaline and the neurotransmitter, dopamine. The release of these chemicals in the brain don’t just cause psychological effects, they also effect the physical body, resulting in an increased heart rate, high blood pressure and a weakened immune system. Extended periods of stress have been scientifically proven to have damaging, long-term effects to our health and wellbeing; ultimately resulting in a shorted lifespan.

So, you can see why lowering your stress levels really should be number one on your to-do-list!

There are many ways to lower stress levels and stay on top of your mental health. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, meditation and properly ‘unwinding’ at the end of each day are all paramount in de-stressing. But did you know that there is another great way to lower your stress levels?

Life Balance Essentials personal concierge services are perfect for busy, working people who struggle to stay on top of their work/life balance. We offer a range of different services including email and diary management, sorting important paperwork, booking appointments, organising flights and travel bookings, writing letters, making phone calls and much more!

If you would like to find out more about how Life Balance Essentials can help you de-stress and organise your life, contact us today for more information.

What exactly is a personal concierge?

Apr 4, 2019 0 comments

When you hear the word ‘concierge’, you probably imagine a well dressed hotel employee whose job is to help you with your reservation and travel plans… right?

But what about a ‘personal concierge’?

The word ‘concierge’ loosely translates to ‘caretaker’ and that’s exactly what we do! We take care of your personal and business errands, freeing up valuable time in your day so you can get on with doing the things you actually enjoy.

A personal concierge service has never been more needed than it is now, in 2019. Most of us spend the majority of our working lives trying to juggle work, family, finances and home life, all the while searching for a spare moment to actually enjoy the fruits of our labour- leisure time!

Whether it’s sifting through hundreds of emails, sorting out paperwork, making phone calls, booking appointments, organising holidays, gathering quotes or managing our busy calendars, there is always something pulling us away from being able to sit back and relax. We take of all those mundane, time-consuming tasks, giving our clients the one thing money can’t buy… time!

Whether that’s for holidaying, spending time with the kids, or simply just sitting back with a wine in hand and enjoying some downtime, more and more busy people are finding our personal concierge services reduce their stress levels and help them rediscover the joy in their lives again.

Life Balance Essentials personal concierge services are perfect if you are a busy person, struggling to find that elusive work/life balance, or even if you just wish to free up a little extra time in your day. 2019 is already here

Wow. I’m not sure if I’ve never noticed this before or there really has been a shift this year. I am booking events, meetings and catch ups for clients in January and February 2019 and nothing for 2018. It seems everyone has the opinion 2018 is finished, now we’re looking ahead four months!!

Slow down people. Let’s really enjoy Christmas this year. Last year I posted a list of 25 things things to do for each day of December leading up to Christmas. It was so good that I’m not even going to write another list, make sure you check it out here. Our family achieved most things on the list and really enjoyed the challenge (number 1 was the hardest – he he). We’ve also decided this year to put the tree up early (Gasp, I hear). We are not home for Christmas this year, but the girls still enjoy decorating the house. So we’ll just bring it forward by a week or maybe two.

As a special gift to everyone that reads my newsletter, you are the first to read about the Life Balance Essentials Membership Options. We would like to invite you to become a client of Life Balance Essentials with our simple and convenient options, choosing from one of three bespoke membership options starting from $30 per week. Once details have been submitted, clients are contacted to discuss your fully customised membership requirements.

Experience a life of freedom that you never imagined you could afford.

Imagine

Imagine feeling relaxed enough to enjoy your time with family. Imagine taking up a hobby like dancing.

Imagine having the time to cook a meal and enjoy it.

You don’t have to dream it. This can become your reality.

You can have someone take care of your email every day. Someone who checks each and every email that comes in. Someone who tidies and files the mountain of emails that has built up in your inbox over the years.

Someone who will book you in for that conference, or buy those concert tickets. Someone who you can call to take care of that last minute task you forget to organise, like pet sitting for the family holiday, and someone who ensures you never miss another email again.

Relax

We’ve got this.

We take care of people just like you. We take your paperwork and everything that’s been piling up for months.

We sort your invoices and receipts for your BAS and tax return. We make sure those bills are paid.

We upload important documents so you can access them anytime. We will even sort your business cards into online folders

And there’s more, as they say in the classics.

We take all of those to do lists, compile them, prioritise them and then do them.

Next time you want to add something to your to do list you don’t need to waste time finding a sticky note and a pen. Just send a text or email directly to us.

We’ll make sure it gets done.

Each day, you will only receive the essentials. You’ll be reminded of events coming up and we’ll talk to you to ensure any urgent tasks are taken care of.

We provide you with your own personal assistant to take care of those personal tasks that keeps weighing you down.

Let Go

You can let go and stop worrying.

From our very first visit, you’ll feel a sense of freedom that you haven’t felt since you were a child.

At the end of your workday, you’ll be able to relax knowing that someone has your back. All of your tasks have been taken care of and now it’s time to do what you love.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Get your new life started by booking a chat.

We’ll talk through your needs and if we think we can help you, we’ll arrange to meet in person. That’s where the magic happens.

To cloud or not to cloud

Sep 9, 2018 0 comments

A topic that we’ve been asked about quite a bit recently is whether to store files in the cloud or not. So, I’ve put together a list of do’s, don’ts and suggestions that we’ve come across.

  • How important is the information you are storing? If you lost it all today, how would you get it back? This question also relates to email usage via cloud based applications.
  • Always have a second, third or even fourth backup even if you are using the cloud.
  • Do you need to share information with employees, clients or any groups of people? Cloud storage can be very handy if you need to share documents, emails, basically any information. The best part about the sharing tools is that you can restrict access down to individual files.
  • How much storage does your account provider supply? There is a big difference between providers. These questions will also come up based on what your storing. If you’re storing large files, such as videos, animation, raw files, etc, this will use more storage and it may be worth looking at paid options. However, if you’re only storing word documents, emails and jpg files you will find that free options will probably be enough.
  • Keep everything filed. Cloud storage may be the best thing that has ever happened to you but if you don’t use folders, it can end up in a very stressful, overwhelming mess. Think of the folders in your cloud storage as you would a filing cabinet.

While we’re very careful with what we place into cloud storage, we also love it. It’s a way that we can share files with our clients and vice versa and to be honest, one of my favourite cloud storage options is business cards. I get an absolute thrill when we have uploaded all of a client’s business cards that they’ve accumulated and filed them into their folders. There is nothing better than opening an app to find that person you can’t quite remember.

Contact us today to discuss your cloud based needs.

So what have we been up to this month?

Insurance quotes
Email Management
Researching Australian Open tickets
Pricing wine tours
Preparing an investment property for sale

and much more…

If you or anybody you know could use help with any of these items listed make sure they get in touch.

Getting back into the swing of things.

So while I had all the best intentions of writing my own newsletter while we were away, I got caught up in family holiday mode and just never got around to it. Lesson learnt, next time I’m on leave I will be leaving the newsletter in the capable hands of my marketing girl. However, the holiday was much needed and more amazing than I could have imagined.

I didn’t quite make it to silicon valley to have a photo outside the Google sign, but we did get to Boeing. What an inspirational place to visit. Our travels took us from Ensanada in Mexico right through to Seattle with diversions to the Grand Canyon and of course Vegas. 14 hotel rooms, 10 hire cars, train travel, planes, cruises and even horse rides were all part of the experience that left us completely exhausted but definitely wanting to head back for more and memories that will last a lifetime.

So since I’ve been back there has been some interesting requests come through from clients along with our regular ongoing jobs. Some of the more interesting jobs that we’ve been able to achieve over the past few weeks are:

  • Uploading and sorting business cards into Google Drive
  • Liaising with interstate nurseries for plant deliveries
  • Comparing prices between interstate and local dealerships for vehicle maintenance work required
  • Compiled information required for a travel insurance claim
  • Produced a report based on local census data for research into the purchase of a new business

Some of the ongoing work that we do regularly are:

  • Pulling together receipts and information required for BAS and End of Year Tax Returns
  • Email Management
  • Diary Management

Over the next month, we are going to be pulling together some free workshops to help people get started in getting organised. Sometimes, its’ just knowing where to start and having a game plan in place that can give you direction and allow you to feel like the you’re getting on top of things. The first few workshops will be run in person to test the waters, then we’ll attempt some online options. If you are interested in holding one of these workshops for your workplace or membership group please be in touch.

I’d also be interested to hear what are your daily struggles? If there was a clear action plan for one thing that would make you feel like the load is less, what would that be? Let me know and we’ll ensure it is included within the free workshops.

Until next time, stay healthy, have fun, and keep your life in balance.

Cheers,

Lisa

Are you offering a concierge service as an employee benefit?

Apr 8, 2018 0 comments

Are you offering a concierge service as an employee benefit?

No? Then you should be. Today employees are not only looking for the prefect job but they also want a great work like balance and are investigating what employee benefits businesses are offering. Benefits could be an extra week of annual leave, discounted health insurance, gym membership just to name a few but a concierge service is also a great benefit to offer with a much wider scope of options plus an effective tool for recruiting and retaining great talent.

Encouraging a happy and motivated workplace isn’t just about offering financial benefits though, employees want an exciting work/life balance. Unfortunately work life does get hectic and impacts on home life. This is where a concierge service is convenient and a great non-financial benefit to assist in helping your employees get a healthy work life/balance. Show your employees that you care about their overall wellbeing.

It is said that many employees make personal arrangements while at work cutting into valuable worktime, so by using our services it can enable your employees to coordinate their work/life balance. Which in turn saves valuable time and reduces stress, creating a more focused team environment, increases morale and ensures greater employee engagement.

So, what can a concierge service offer your business? Our services can arrange from; making travel arrangements (research, planning and booking) to sourcing and booking tickets for restaurant and sporting events and personal items such as organising a dry cleaner, babysitting service, organising catering or house cleaner. There are so many options, we can make a tailored package to suit your needs.

Talk to us today about a customised package of concierge and errand services to enhance and add value to your employee benefits package. Not only can our concierge services be used for your employees benefits but also as a way to reward staff and recognise key clients/customers.

Lastly apologies for the late newsletter this month, we were enjoying spending time with family and friends over the Easter break.

Until next time, stay healthy, have fun, and keep your life in balance.

Cheers,

Lisa

Benefits of hiring a concierge for you and/or your business.

Feb 5, 2018 0 comments

Does the thought of your “To Do List” make your stomach churn? Then its time to hire a personal concierge to help out with those time-consuming daily/weekly/monthly tasks.  And did you know that many businesses are using personal concierge services to help improve employee productivity, work/life stresses and used as a way of rewarding their staff members… and it’s not just for large businesses.

The term “Concierge” is most commonly associated with the lifestyle of the rich and famous, but times have changed and you and your business can easily enjoy the same perks and privileges, with a strong focus on saving you time.

These days many families are facing the difficulty of maintaining a healthy work/life balance as they have so many jobs to do, and often some things fall by the wayside and possible disruptions in their life. Which can lead to being unhappy in the home and the workplace.

A lot of time and money is spent choosing the right employee. In turn, employees are now choosing organisations that provide Life Balance support programs. EAP and Gym memberships are no longer enough of a draw card.

Helping your teams coordinate their work/life balance saves time and reduces stress, creating a more focused team, increases morale and ensures greater team engagement.

Show your employees and family that you care. A concierge service can be used for both work and leisure. For example, but not limited to: making travel arrangements from finding a camping ground or conference venue, a babysitter, a financial planner or even organising your dry cleaning.

Here are FOUR great benefits of hiring a concierge (which relate to both the workplace and home)

  1. Frees up time for what matters most
  2. Increased productivity and efficiency
  3. Convenience
  4. Simplified lifestyle – reduce stress in your busy life

A good work/life balance can ensure time for the things that are most important to you with less stress and worry. A personal concierge can help you become more efficient and productive, so you can achieve more out of life.
